Google Sightseeing

This is so very cool. At Google Sightseeing you can use the new Google Maps service to explore famous buildings and landmarks, see natural wonders, and even see where some guy called Dave has written his name in a field.

You can spend hours playing with Google Maps. Here’s a cool find: a plane on the runway at Atlanta International Airport, waiting to take off. But wait, it gets even cooler. Start scrolling east (right), and you can see the same plane as it takes off and ascends, where the satellite just happened to be tracking the trajectory of the plane.

  1. I finally got around to exploring Google Maps, thanks to Paulette, and I am suitably awestruck. As a total map geek, I can’t believe I waited this long. Such fun!
