Touched by His Noodly Appendage

I found more about the FSM today doing some research for work [of all things!]… BoingBoing has coined the term “Pastafarianism,” which I love. There’s also a good Wikipedia entry on His Noodliness. Click on the bumper sticker below for an editable PDF version of it– perfect for printing out stickers.

Apparently, today’s flurry of FSM news is in response to the NYT’s braindead “on the one hand, on the other hand” treatment of the “intelligent design” BS, which Atrios summarized as “Shorter Jodi Wilgoren: Shape of the Earth — Views Differ.” It does contain the interesting news [to me] that the Gates Foundation supports the Discovery Institute, which Pam mentioned a while back. DI’s goal? “Nothing less than the overthrow of materialism and its cultural legacies” in favor of a “broadly theistic understanding of nature,” as the Times reports. In other words, the death of Reality-Based Science. As I’ve told David, Lysenkoism isn’t creeping–it’s galloping.

  1. FSM has made the international press! J, reading the Austrian news online this morning, says this to me: Have you heard about the Flying Spaghetti Monster? It’s all here in the Austrian papers!
