<description>I am horrified but unfortunately, not surprised.

This has got to be actionable, though. The mortuary is in breach of contract and should be sued not only by the doctor but by the women whose fetal remains were buried without their consent.

I have emailed the Boulder County Coroners Office with a request for clarification of the legal disposition of cremated remains. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Tena definitely got it right when she explained that a full grown woman is of no value to the religious right. We may as well be chattel (and I am sure that they would like to go back to the "good old days" when that was exactly what we were). According to this article they are also a bunch of hypocrites http://www.boulderweekly.com/archive/012705/incaseyoumissedit.html:

"It also appears that the burial charade may have been against the law. A state law requires that the ashes of unclaimed human remains cannot be buried until a year after cremation. Not to worry, said the fiends behind the burial, the fetuses were medical human waste, not human remains. So, according to these pro-lifers, aborted fetuses are not human. We'll remember that next time we find you bemoaning over the souls of unborn children."
