Good news! Everything's fine!

Apparently not a member of the "reality-based community" John Ashcroft announced that he is resigning as Attorney General because "The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved."

I am breathing such a sigh of relief. I'm putting away the bat signal, since there's nothing to worry about. Think of all the money we no longer have to spend on police, 911, Homeland Security. Everything will now balance out even WITH all those tax cuts for the rich.

Oh, I don't know, I think he might be right. I feel less likely to be a victim of crime and terror from the hands of the Justice Department since he will be gone. I bet Brandon Mayfield would agree...

Hopefully, this means we will actually get someone who will focus on justice rather than writing subpoenas for women's medical records in order to prosecute OB/GYNs.

Maybe we will get someone who will honor the Geneva Convention rather than denying the rights of "enemy combatants."

But then, it's STILL the Bush Administration.

Is it possible Mr. Ashcroft is leaving to concentrate on his singing career?

Terry, not surprisingly, your hopes that Bush would pick someone who would honor the Geneva Convention have been dashed. In fact, he's chosen someone who called the GC "quaint."
