It's Not Paranoia if They're Really Out to Get You

It's official: I'm a disenfranchised voter. Here's an excerpt from a notice that came in my mail the other day:

King County Elections has recieved information that you no longer live at the address indicated on your voter registration. We have placed your name in our inactive voter file until we hear from you.

This is true, I'm not making it up. There's a postage paid card that I have to sign and return to recover my voting status. I'm lucky, I've got a great friend dealing with my mail. I have a PDF of the document and he's sent the card back in for me. I can think of numerous scenarios, however, that would have led to my being booted off the voter rolls.

I contacted the elections commitees, both county and state, to ask them, essentially, what the hell was going on. There's only one thing I can think of that would have set this off - my mail is on temporary forwarding. I don't think that should warrant having my voting rights revoked.

I have yet to hear back. And yes, it's freakin' me out.
